PCC comments on Home Affairs Select Committee on IPCC

Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Logo

Avon & Somerset Police & Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said: “Avon and Somerset’s position on appeals upheld by the IPCC is 17th nationally, with 44 appeals, or 4.9% of total complaints to the force appealed and upheld.  I have discussed this with the Constabulary and they have already reported to me on some of the background but I will be looking into this further along with the scrutiny panel I am setting up.

“Complaints are a great opportunity for us to learn and find ways of improving the Constabulary's service to the public. In my role as Commissioner I am looking for volunteers to look at police complaints and I would encourage the public to come forward if they are interested in working with us to find ways of improving the service in Avon and Somerset.”
