Avon and Somerset Constabulary are looking for committed and motivated individuals to join their 500+ strong team of specials who play a crucial part in helping us reduce crime and forge stronger partnerships with our communities.

The role of a special is to help us reduce the fear of crime and disorder, act as a vital link between communities and the police and assist officers with their day-to-day enquiries.

PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “Special Constables play a vital role in reducing crime and offering reassurance to the public, as well as making up an important part of local neighbourhood policing teams.

“The role offers a great opportunity to see first-hand what a career in the police service might be like and I would strongly encourage people from all walks of life to apply.”

Specials need to devote a minimum monthly average of 16 hours duty spread evenly throughout the year, exclusive of training.
