Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens is encouraging applications as Avon and Somerset Police open Special Constabulary recruitment this week.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary are looking for committed and motivated individuals to join their 500+ strong team of specials who play a crucial part in helping us reduce crime and forge stronger partnerships with our communities.
The role of a special is to help us reduce the fear of crime and disorder, act as a vital link between communities and the police and assist officers with their day-to-day enquiries.
PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “Special Constables play a vital role in reducing crime and offering reassurance to the public, as well as making up an important part of local neighbourhood policing teams.
“The role offers a great opportunity to see first-hand what a career in the police service might be like and I would strongly encourage people from all walks of life to apply.”
Specials need to devote a minimum monthly average of 16 hours duty spread evenly throughout the year, exclusive of training.
