Commissioner's Community Action Fund Year 2 Allocation for Quarter 1

Local communities and voluntary organisations across Avon and Somerset have received over £65,000 as part of Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens Community Action Fund (CCAF).           

Sixteen projects across Avon and Somerset were allocated funding for Quarter 1 of the second year of the fund.           

The Commissioner’s Community Action Fund of £200,000 was launched in May 2013 and has entered its second year enabling communities to continue to apply for grants of up to £5000.

Chaplaincy About Town

Contribution to support the valuable work of CHaT who support vulnerable members of the community, working closely with the Police.

Williton War Memorial Recreation Ground

Grant to set up CCTV to deter ASB and criminal damage at the memorial ground in Williton.

Project Zero

Funding towards nights for 13-17 year olds which promote a safe and alcohol-free environment and reduces ASB throughout the school holidays.

Taunton Street Pastors

Pilot project which will see street pastors work in schools to mentor and support vulnerable secondary school students.

Savannah

Support scheme for members of teh Bristol Somali communit to strengthen community relations, provide skills and opportunities and divert young people from crime and ASB.

XTND - Improving Futures

Funding to support the XTND summer club in Weston-super-Mare, which provides diversionary activities for young people and enables access for families on low or no income.

Avon Club for Young People

Grant to support the youth club in Lawrence Weston, Bristol which supports young people at risk of offending and engages them in positive activities.

Minehead Shop Watch

Funding to support the Minehead Shop Watch Scheme improve its coverage and the response to theft and ASB. 

 Somerset  £5,000.00  

The Empowerment Network UK

Funding to support the development of a pioneering programme to empower bystanders of domestic abuse to cope with the impacts of domestic abuse and support victims.

Bristol   £5,000.00  

Womankind

Funding to increase the telephone support that can be provided by volunteers at peak hours (Monday mornings) for victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence. 

 Bristol  £5,000.00  

Small Acts of Rebellion Theatre

Contribution to performance project which seeks to raise awareness of sexual violence and act as an educational tool for young people.

Stand Against Violence

Grant to support the delivery of workshops in Bristol schools to educate young people about the consequences of violence.

Getting Court

Project which educates young people about crime, its impact and the Criminal Justice System.

The Big Issue

Funding to maximise the impact of the Big Issue's work in Bath and Bristol and the surrounding areas, providing outreach to engage with homeless people and reduce ASB. 

Bath and North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire  £5,000.00  

Black South West Network

Funding towards a project working with young people in Bristol exploring their relationship with the police and the impact of crime and ASB.
