Commissioner's Community Action Fund Year 3 Allocation for Quarter 2

Local communities and voluntary organisations across Avon and Somerset have received over £40,000 as part of Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens Community Action Fund (CCAF).

Fifteen projects across Avon and Somerset were allocated funding for Quarter 2 of the third year of the fund.

The Commissioner's Community Action Fund of £200,000 was launched in May 2013 and has entered its third year enabling communities to continue to apply for grants of up to £5,000.

Partnership between Beloved, One25, Spring of Hope and Unseen

A partnership project which aims to engage with faith groups to raise awareness and give advice in engaging with vulnerable women, suffering from issues such as homelessness, street-based and brothel-based sex work, human trafficking and modern slavery.  The group will host an event called 'Vision for the Vulnerable' with organisations in Avon and Somerset in October 2015.

Axis Trampoline Club

A grant to support the group to engage with a wider range of young people by offering 'FreeG' (free-running) with the aim of deveriting them from ASB.

Brenty and Henbury Children's Centre

Contribution towards a young parents course which includes support for victims of domestic abuse on healthy relationships, working with young mothers and fathers.

Broadway Lodge

Small grant towards an online project which will improve support for services users who have suffered domestic or sexual abuse.

Circles South West

Funding to support the volunteer-led work at Circles South West who support and monitor sex offenders in the community.

Foreal Youth Work Providers CIC

A community art project working with young people to redesign a badly graffitied wall in Clevedon.

Juice Community Project

A street game project involving the Police, schools, local authority and other local organisations to positively engage with young people over the summer with the aim of reducing ASB in Longwell Green and surrounding areas.

South Gloucestershire  £5,000.00 

Mentor Me (part of Sixty-One)

A conditional grant towards the work of Mentor Me volunteers supporting ex-offenders back into the community. 

Bristol  £2,000.00 

Monster Soccer UK

Football sessions for girls aged 12-16 in Easton and Eastville with the aim of increasing engagement and reducing ASB, as part of the Bristol Sports Day 2015.

Muslim Youth Helpline

A local helpline hub to support young Muslims with issues such as so-called 'honour based' violence, victimisation, mental health, identity and other issues.

Nailsea Skatepark Project

A conditional grant towards the replacement of a valued community asset - Nailsea Skate Park which  provides a place for young people and helps keep ASB low.

South Gloucestershire Youth Housing

Funding towards life skills sessions for young people and care leavers aged 16-25, helping them with self-esteem, healthy relationships, employment and other skills.

Westfield United Reformed Church

CCTV for a valued community asset which supports the homeless, young people and other members of the local community. 

Somerset  £4,765.00 

Oasis Community Hub: Brightstowe

Grant to support an open access course for the whole community which the Constabulary will also work in partnership with.
