Young people from Integrate Bristol will be joining the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens for the day as part of Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Challenge 2016 on Friday, November 18.
Five young people from Integrate Bristol will spend the day shadowing the PCC, and members of her Senior Leadership Team, attending various meetings across the force area and working with the PCC team, helping to deliver the Police and Crime Plan priorities.
In 2015 over 44,000 children and young people took part in the Takeover Challenge, with more organisations engaging with young people for longer and delivering some excellent ongoing work with young people.
Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said: “As well as providing an insight into my role and the work of my team, I am looking forward to gaining as much from the day as the young people and welcome the opportunity to develop some fresh and creative ideas.
“It is important to me that I make sure I am speaking and listening to young people about the issues which matter to them in relation to policing and crime. The young people are our future and will undoubtedly have views on their policing service.”
Organiser of the day, Amy Hurst, Senior Commissioning and Policy Officer for the PCC said: “Takeover Challenge provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain an insight into life as PCC and have their say.
“It give us an opportunity to work with young people directly, involving them in the PCC role in a meaningful way, developing ideas alongside them and ensuring that their views are truly reflected in the work we do.”
