The PCC has recruited a selection of volunteers to be part of a scrutiny panel looking at police complaints and highlighting good practice.
Volunteers are required to be over the age of 18, living or working in the Avon and Somerset area and be able to attend meetings during the day at Police HQ in Portishead. The volunteers are also subject to a police vetting check.
The current panel is a group of independent volunteers as serving and former police officers and staff are not eligible for this role, to avoid any conflict of interest.
The volunteers receive training and expenses for travel and are required to take part in quarterly meetings to review police complaint files. The panel then submit a report to the PCC ontheir findings.
