Independent Chair for the Lammy Review Group of the Avon and Somerset Criminal Justice Board

£39,918 - £42,918 FTE depending on experience (Pro rata for the part time role)

Fixed term contract - 4 days per month.

We are looking for a driven, dedicated and determined person to oversee the recommendations in the influential Lammy Review across Avon and Somerset. David Lammy MP carried out an independent review of the treatment of, and outcomes for, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals in the criminal justice system (CJS). He made a series of recommendations about tackling racial bias in the justice system.

You will lead the Lammy Review work independently on behalf of the Avon and Somerset Local Criminal Justice Board, which includes all local criminal justice organisations in the area. You will be passionate about addressing the over-representation of BAME people in the criminal justice system and the treatment and outcomes of individuals and local communities. You must be familiar with and respected by the key BME community groups in the Avon & Somerset area.

You will have the highest level of independence and accountability and a commitment to high standards of conduct and integrity. Key skills required include leadership, strategic thinking and judgement.

The role is for a two year fixed term contract (4 days a month) from April 2019.
