Do you have a passion to make a real difference and break the cycle of crime in the South West?
Do you want to be at the forefront of reducing reoffending and help change lives?
If so, the South West Regional Reducing Reoffending Board wants to hear from you.
The Board is looking for a dedicated Senior Responsible Officer to take a leading role in finalising and implementing the South West Regional Reducing Reoffending Strategy on its behalf. The senior role also involves working with local and national leaders at a critical time to deliver collaborative policy changes to tackle reoffending in the region.
Offending and persistent repeat offending is a complex issue, with a number of factors outside of the control of the criminal justice service including employment, housing and addiction. Partner agencies are committed to work together towards a shared goal of reducing the number of victims by reducing the levels at which people reoffend in the South West.
You’ll be working closely with the Board and senior officers across the local criminal justice service to develop and implement changes in policy and practice to deliver the SW Reducing Reoffending strategy.
You will need to be able to develop effective working relationships with senior stakeholders at a local, regional and national level in order to influence and ensure necessary changes are taking place to transform the service.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, and have strong project and partnership management experience with knowledge of reducing reoffending policy. You will have experience of working across different agencies at a senior stakeholder level with a proven track record of implementing and delivering complex projects to tight deadlines.
The purpose of the Board is to provide strategic governance for regional collaboration and develop evidence-based opportunities for co-commissioning to reduce the level of reoffending, drive down crime and make the communities of the South West safer. The Board has been set up with the full support the Ministry of Justice and other key stakeholders as a means of securing the best possible collaborative working to reduce offending in the South West of England.
The appointment will initially be for a 2 year fixed term contract and the employing body will be the Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset on behalf of the board. Secondments will be accepted with written support of employer.
The SRO will be expected to travel throughout the SW area and to national meetings. The SRO may be based at one of the key Board members offices in the South West of England.
