Senior Commissioning and Policy Officer – Maternity cover

We are looking to appointment maternity cover for a Senior Commissioning and Policy Officer to join our innovative and ambitious team to support a wide range of commissioning and policy work. This role will be heavily focused on leading the work on reducing reoffending.

Salary £39,585.00 – £47,058.00 depending on experience.

18 months maternity cover fixed term contract, full time.

Secondments will be accepted with written support of the employer.

The Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) has wide ranging responsibilities for setting the priorities and budget of the Constabulary, holding the Chief Constable to account for delivery of the Police and Crime Plan. The PCC also has wider responsibilities across criminal justice and community safety and commissions a wide range of services for both victims and offenders in order to support delivery of the Plan.

A maternity cover opportunity has arisen in the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for a Senior Commissioning and Policy Officer to lead on and deliver a range of commissioning, policy and partnership work. Current areas of focus include reducing reoffending.

The PCC chairs the local criminal justice board and is the national deputy PCC lead for criminal justice and this role will be pivotal in supporting this work, addressing some of the significant and complex issues in these areas and building strong working relationships with senior colleagues to develop effective multi-agency solutions. As such experience working in these areas would be desirable.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have experience in commissioning, scrutiny work, developing initiatives, preparation of briefing documents and strategic partnership working. Confident, innovative and flexible, you will have excellent communication skills.
