PCC announcement on Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner leaving office

Sue Mountstevens

PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “John Smith is standing down from his role as Deputy PCC today prior to the forthcoming election.

“I, and my team in the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, would like to thank John for all his hard work, his passion and commitment  especially in tackling serious violence and re-offending.

“It has been an extraordinary and difficult additional year in office that nobody could have imagined before COVID-19. The Deputy PCC role proved invaluable in ensuring we had the capacity to continue effective scrutiny and governance of the police service, as it faced the challenging circumstances of policing throughout the pandemic, and to provide extra support to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.“
