“Following the horrific and tragic murder of Sir David Amess MP, I want to send my thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, colleagues and his constituents who thought so highly of David and his work as a dedicated public servant.
“I know that the whole country continues to be shocked by this appalling event, and many are questioning the safety of their elected MPs. I have been reassured by Avon and Somerset Police that they have reviewed safety measures for MPs across the force area to ensure our elected officials feel safe to continue to meet with their constituents in public spaces. Regardless of political differences, no politician should feel intimidated or face violence. Now is the time to stand together and condemn such awful attacks.”
