Neighbourhood Policing Week 2025

Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner, Clare Moody has welcomed the start of Neighbourhood Policing Week, which runs from Monday 23rd – Sunday 29th June 2025.

This week marks Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, a week celebrating local, community and neighbourhood policing locally and nationally with opportunities to get involved.

Neighbourhood policing is about visible, community-based policing. It involves dedicated teams made up of police officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), police staff, special constables, and police support volunteers. These teams work within our local communities, building relationships and taking proactive steps to make neighbourhoods safer.

They work in the communities engaging with the public and aim to make our communities safer and stronger. Meaningful, genuine, and effective communication and engagement is a key part of neighbourhood policing. It is about listening to concerns, understanding what communities need, and building the trust that underpins effective policing.

To support this work, the Government has introduced Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee. This national commitment aims to ensure a consistent, visible, and high-quality policing presence in every community. It sets out clear expectations for both police and the public, including:

·       Increase visible patrols – with more officers back on the beat.

·       Deliver community-led policing, with named, contactable officers.

·       Introduce a clear pathway for neighbourhood policing officers.

·       Crack down on antisocial behaviour.

·       Support safer town centres and public spaces.
