Kevin Slocombe appointed as Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner

Yesterday, PCC Clare Moody had the appointment of her new Deputy PCC confirmed.
The Police and Crime Panel for Avon and Somerset confirmed the appointment of Kevin Slocombe as Deputy to PCC Clare Moody at a hearing at Deane House in Taunton today.
The Panel is made up of councillors from the nine local authorities in the force area and three independent members who bring a variety of skills and experience to the role. They support and scrutinise the PCC’s work and the decisions the PCC takes. Somerset County Council is the Host Authority for the Panel.
“I’m delighted that the Panel have recommended to confirm my appointment of Kevin as my Deputy PCC.
Kevin comes with a wealth and breadth of experience in local and national government.
I’m looking forward to having Kevin’s support to build on important regional and national partner relationships to deliver on the five priorities in my Police and Crime Plan, to work towards safer communities for people living in Avon and Somerset.” PCC Clare Moody
Kevin has worked as a consultant to local government and private sector clients on public affairs, policy, corporate planning and communications.
Kevin was also previously Chief of Staff to the elected Mayor of Bristol.
Before his Chief of Staff role, Kevin provided consultancy to the leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition and Leader of the Labour Party, followed by being Head of Media and Strategic Communications to the Leader of HM Opposition and leader of the Labour Party.
Kevin was also Director of Communications and Campaigns for The Communications Workers Union (CWU).
