Your Streets, My Priority: An update

‘Your Streets, My Priority’ is a coordinated programme of action to enhance neighbourhood policing and create safer, more vibrant town centres and high streets across the region.
You’ve told me you want safer streets and more visible policing and I’m doing it. I’ve listened to your concerns about anti-social behaviour, retail crime, and criminality in town centres, and I am working with the Chief Constable to put more officers where they are needed, tackling crime in high streets and areas you care about, because you should feel safe in your high street.
Over the summer, I have visited many places and have seen and heard the impact this work is having on people and their high streets.
Some of the activity across the area has included:
- A flat in Bath received a closure order due to continued reports from the community about drug-related anti-social behaviour (ASB) and disorder at the address.
- In July, the Sedgemoor and the West Somerset and Taunton neighbourhood policing teams carried out a coordinated week of action to target community concerns including anti-social behaviour, illegal drug supply, and shoplifting.
- In August, Thornbury’s neighbourhood policing team joined forces with the Roads Policing Team, Special Constabulary and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to conduct traffic patrols and checks around Easter Compton.
- New powers were granted to police officers, allowing them to close the road through Cheddar Gorge to tackle issues of anti-social and dangerous driving.
- The Bedminster neighbourhood policing team secured a closure order for a property in Bristol linked to drug supply, drug use and extensive anti-social behaviour.
In addition to the policing activity that has continued throughout the summer, there are also community stalls and pop-ups happening. Please keep an eye on your local authority websites for information about ‘Your Streets’ activities in your area.
