Yeovil residents will have the opportunity to put their local policing questions to Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens and Chief Constable Andy Marsh at a public forum on Thursday, February 2, 2017.
The event, taking place in the Council Chamber of the Brympton Way Council Offices, will include welcomes from the PCC and Chief Constable, a presentation on local policing by Area Chief Inspector Mark Edgington and will end with a question and answer session.
This will be the second time that PCC Sue Mountstevens has hosted a public forum in the town and the last visit saw questions raised about police speed checks, 101 delays and police community support officer (PCSO) career progression.
PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “This will be my first public forum with Chief Constable Andy Marsh and I’m delighted that we’ll be visiting Yeovil for the first forum of this New Year. A lot has changed since I last visited the town and no doubt local people will have lots of questions for us both.
“I hope the residents of Yeovil and the surrounding communities will take the time to join us and use the opportunity to put their local policing questions to myself and the Chief. It’s only by being accessible to the local communities of Avon and Somerset that I can truly represent your views in policing.”
Chief Constable Andy Marsh said: “I’m looking forward to hearing from residents who live in this area on how they can help shape policing in South Somerset. I want to hear what they think about the service we provide, what we do well and what we could be better, to ensure local people are safe and feel safe.
“Events like this are a great opportunity to hear first-hand about how local people feel about their police service and neighbourhood policing teams. It also provides the chance to talk face-to-face about some of challenges we’re experiencing in policing and how our local communities can help us.”
The forum will be will be held in the Council Chamber at South Somerset District Council, Brympton Way, Yeovil BS20 2HT between 7pm and 9pm. To make sure that a seat is reserved for you please register here: pcc-public-forum-yeovil.eventbrite.co.uk
