Work for us
The OPCC is a great place to work. We focus on employing people who align with the ethos and culture of our team and who will embrace our values of Openness, Partnership, Compassion and Courage.
Join the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC)’s team and help shape policing.
What is it like at the OPCC?
We try to be clear about what we require from our employees in our role profiles, but recognise that recruitment is a two-way process, and it is just as important that we are as good a fit for you as you are for us.
We have outlined below some of the key things you can expect when working with the OPCC so that you can decide if the OPCC is somewhere you want to work and help make a difference.
Remuneration
We offer a pay policy that provides consistent reward for work of similar value with annual increments subject to satisfactory performance. We also make a commitment to pay equality, as well as membership to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Training
There are regular Performance and Development and 1:1 conversations as part of your development. We have an in-house Leadership Training Academy and offer a variety of vocational, networking, coaching and mentoring schemes and opportunities.
Wellbeing
The OPCC has a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, and offers both flexible working and flexi-time options. We also have a health and wellbeing passport, several groups and associations and the Oscar Kilo national Police wellbeing service.
In addition, we also provide menopause resources, a cycle to work scheme, financial wellbeing services and the ‘My healthy Advantage’ app.
Benefits
The OPCC offers a range of quality benefits, including a generous annual leave entitlement, flexitime, hybrid working, and a range of leisure and retail discounts available.
At our HQ we have free on-site parking, a gym, a pool car scheme, a range of social activities, monthly team meetings and a full induction programme.
Environment
We are very proud of our work environment which has been recently refurbished with bright and airy open plan offices. Our HQ is based just outside Portishead with its Lido, Beach, and Marina.
In addition, there is an on site restaurant and coffeeshop, museum, staff kitchen and beautiful grounds with a deer walk, pavilion, pond, wildflower meadow, and extensive gardens.
