Tackling Racial Disproportionality Independent Scrutiny Board recruitment
Are you passionate about fair treatment for Black and racially minoritised communities and their experience within your local Criminal Justice System?
We are seeking scrutineers to bring their knowledge, perspective, insights and understanding gained through both their lived experience, careers, and knowledge. This is a pioneering opportunity to be part of seismic change in the local Criminal Justice System.
In the Lammy report, David Lammy said: ‘Fair treatment can be best achieved through open decision making that is exposed to external scrutiny.’ The Identifying Disproportionality in Avon and Somerset CJS report was published in 2022 in response to the Lammy report.
An Independent Scrutiny Board has now been established to hold criminal justice agencies accountable for their proactive delivery of the recommendations in the Identifying Disproportionality report.
If you want to be part of vital, independent, external scrutiny of criminal justice agencies across Avon and Somerset then becoming a member of our Scrutiny Board could be for you.
Full training will be provided, and you will be required to meet with the board on a quarterly basis.
Attendance at these meetings will be renumerated. We are open to all applications and are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of the Black and minoritised communities.
