PCC Attends Cyber Resilience Conference

PCC Mark Shelford attended the Cyber Resilience Conference in Taunton on Tuesday 26th September.

Organised by the South West Business Council the conference focused on the nature of the current and future threat of cyber security to businesses, with reference to the importance of building a regionally resilient ecosystem.

The aim is to support business leaders who want to understand and reduce the risks that they face.

PCC Shelford is the National Economic and Cyber Crime lead for the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners. He spoke at the conference about the impact of fraud and cyber crime on the South West’s regional economy.

“I was delighted to see how well attended the event was, both in person and online.

“Baroness Nicky Morgan of Cotes gave a speech about the threats faced and highlighted what the Government is doing to tackle this. This event was important in helping demystify structural Cyber Resilience and security.

“The South West Cyber Resilience Centre is a vital resource to SMEs and the public in providing a source of free advice and consultancy.”
