Neighbourhood Policing Week 2024

PCC Mark Shelford at a councillor forum with the local Neighbourhood Policing team.

This week is Neighbourhood Policing Week. We are celebrating community policing locally and nationally.

Neighbourhood Policing includes police officers, PCSOs (police community support officers), police staff, special constables, and police support volunteers.

They work out and about in communities and engage with people to make our communities safer. Community engagement is an essential part of Neighbourhood Policing, to build trust and develop an understanding of policing needs in different areas.

“This week is a chance to celebrate our hard-working neighbourhood policing team. They tackle issues from anti-social behaviour to road safety and drug related crimes.

“Over the past year, I have had many engagements where I have been able to bring the neighbourhood policing team and the community together, which has been great to see.

“I would like to thank all the dedicated police teams across Avon and Somerset who help make Avon and Somerset a safer place and engage with our local communities.”
