West of England Women’s Commission Summit

Police and Crime Commissioner Clare Moody joined regional leaders, community representatives and service providers at a Bristol Women’s Commission event this week, focused on improving safety, equality and opportunity for women and girls.
As well as co-opening the event, Clare took part in roundtable discussions on women’s safety, skills and employment, and health and wellbeing. The conversations highlighted opportunities to improve public awareness of victim support, to make transport and public spaces safer, and to use sport as a lever for cultural change.
Themes around women’s progression in the workplace, access to apprenticeships, and the impact of caring responsibilities and menopause were also explored, alongside the need to include women in the criminal justice system in future planning.
Clare said:
“I was proud to join so many partners committed to making change. The discussions reflected both the scale of the challenge and the determination across our region to act together to build safer and fairer lives for women and girls.”
