SARSAS Supporter Celebration

Last week’s SARSAS Supporter Celebration was an uplifting and powerful evening.

It was a privilege to be part of it, to celebrate the extraordinary work SARSAS does supporting people affected by rape or sexual assault, and to stand alongside so many who share a commitment to ending violence against women and girls.

The survivor panel was the heart of the evening. Hearing people speak so honestly about their experiences, and about the difference SARSAS made in helping them rebuild confidence and rediscover themselves, was profoundly moving. Many have gone on to become campaigners, fundraisers and advocates, continuing to create change for others.

Tackling male violence against women and girls is one of my top priorities. It is a serious and pervasive crime that demands a collective response from police, health, community and voluntary partners all working together. SARSAS exemplifies what that collaboration can achieve: support rooted in understanding, compassion and hope.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone at SARSAS – staff, volunteers, supporters and survivors – for the expertise and empathy you bring to this vital work.
