Precept survey last chance

Today is the last chance to fill out the annual survey to give your views on the policing budget for next year.

Each year, the PCC sets the amount you contribute to local policing through your council tax bill – known as the police precept, and your views help to shape those decisions.

The consultation closes at 5pm today. If you would like to comment on the proposed budget, please use this link: PCC Budget Survey

Police funding comes from two main sources:

  • Government grant – 57%
  • Local taxation – 43%, through the policing element of your council tax

Your PCC, Clare Moody, is responsible for setting this funding to deliver on her Police and Crime Plan, which focuses on five key priorities:

  • Strengthening neighbourhood policing
  • Reducing violent crime, with a focus on male violence against women and girls (MVAWG) and serious youth violence
  • Preventing crime
  • Supporting victims
  • Improving policing standards

Clare is now seeking your views on the projected budget for 2026/27. This is your chance to influence how resources are allocated to keep communities safe.

Police and Crime Commissioner Clare Moody intend to increase the council tax policing precept by the maximum allowed by The Government – £15

Funding decisions have a direct impact on policing, and your feedback is important.
