Police and Crime Commissioner Launches New Community Fund
Community groups across the region are invited to apply for grants between £1,000 and £10,000 through the Police and Crime Commissioner Clare Moody’s new Community Fund.
Over the next two years, PCC Clare Moody will invest £500,000 to support community-led projects that prevent crime, reduce harm and make neighbourhoods safer across Avon and Somerset.
The fund will support projects that make a real difference to safety in a neighbourhood or work with people who are at increased risk of becoming victims of crime or becoming involved in offending.
PCC Clare Moody said:
“One of the most important parts of my role is being responsive to people and organisations across Avon and Somerset about the issues affecting their communities. What I’ve found is that the people closest to these challenges often have the clearest understanding of what could help address them.
“I’ve met grassroots organisations, volunteers and community leaders with ideas, energy and a deep understanding of their local area. What I’ve heard repeatedly is that access to funding can be one of the biggest barriers to turning those ideas into action.
“This fund is about investing in communities and backing local solutions. I want to support projects that contribute clearly to the priorities in my Police and Crime Plan and can show how they will make a tangible difference for people.
“Whether it’s helping to address antisocial behaviour, supporting people at risk of harm, preventing violence or strengthening community relationships, I’m looking forward to seeing applications that demonstrate the positive impact local organisations can have.”
Projects must demonstrate a clear contribution to the priorities in Clare’s Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Plan (2024-2029):
- Strengthening community engagement and tackling antisocial behaviour
- Reducing violent crime, including violence against women and girls and serious youth violence
- Preventing crime and building safer communities
- Supporting people who have been victims of crime to get the help they need.
Applications are open to community, voluntary, faith, and social enterprise groups across Avon and Somerset.
Applications for projects in Somerset should be made through Somerset Community Foundation.
Organisations working in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire should apply through Quartet Community Foundation.
The deadline for the first round of applications is Friday 16th October.
