Let counting commence

Bundle of ballot paper

The counting of the ballot papers in Avon and Somerset’s first ever Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) election will begin today at 1200.

Overnight Ballot boxes from across the nine local authority areas of Avon and Somerset have been collected and verified at the University of the West of England (UWE) Exhibition Centre.

This morning dozens of coaches arrived at UWE with one thousand counting staff to start the process of counting the votes for the first ever PCC and Bristol Mayor election, making this one of Britain’s biggest counts, outside of London.

If you want to keep up-to-date with the progress of the count follow us on twitter @AandSPCC and keep checking this website for updates.
