Bath PCC Police Public Forum
Cyclists, cars, speeding and illegal parking were the hot topics of Bath and North East Somerset’s first Public Forum hosted by Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens and Chief Constable Nick Gargan.
The meeting, which took place on Wednesday November 27 at The Guildhall in Bath, saw over 80 people brave the cold to attend and hear from the PCC, Chief Constable and North East Area Commander Geoff Spicer in a two hour question and answer session.
Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said: “This is the best reception we have received at a Forum so far and I was delighted to see so many local people take the time to join us for the evening.
“It is clear to see that residents in Bath and North East Somerset are passionate about their local community and have an appetite to get involved with local policing and this was reflected in the questions we received.”
Questions at the public forum were predominantly focused on road safety but also included the new police base in Keynsham, station closures and partnership working.
Following the event Chief Constable Nick Gargan tweeted: “80 people turned up to Bath’s Guildhall this evening to quiz @AandSPCC and me on policing. I thought it was interesting and fun.”
A video of the meeting and notes from the question and answer session will shortly be online at www.avonandsomerset-pcc.gov.uk where you can also view the presentation by North East Area Commander Geoff Spicer.
The next Public Forum will take place in North Somerset on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 (venue and time to be announced).
