PCC Sue Mountstevens with Superintendent Mike Prior and the North Taunton One Team
Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens has been out in Somerset visiting local projects and meeting residents.
On Tuesday, August 25, Sue visited a number of projects in Taunton and Weston-Super-Mare to hear about the services they are providing to local people. She visited the North Taunton One team, Taunton Association for the homeless and Somerset Wood Recycling.
The North Taunton One Team aims to improve the health and wellbeing of families, continue to reduce crime and reduce the demand on public services by identifying and addressing the underlying causes. Taunton Association for the homelessis there to house, assist, support and empower homeless people in Somerset whilst maximising their potential and promote independence. Somerset Wood Recycling is a not for profit social enterprise, working with people with mental health issues, unemployment, criminal behavior, drug and alcohol problems.
One of the people Sue met was Angela Bolito, Team Co-ordinator of North Taunton One Team. Talking about the visit she said: “Think differently, do differently, the North Taunton One Team don’t just talk about problems in the community they find solutions together. I think Sue was impressed by the partnership working and the commitment to support the residents of North Taunton.”
Speaking after the visit, Sue Said: “It’s great to see a multi-agency group working with vulnerable people and those involved in criminal activity. You can really see the impact the One Team are having in North Taunton and the dedication they put in to make their local area a better place for everyone. We are fortunate to have some great causes helping to empower and promote independence.”
