Taunton residents will have the chance to put their questions to Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens and Somerset Area Commander Chief Superintendent (C/Supt) Ian Wylie at the next public forum.

The forum will be the sixth meeting of its kind hosted in Somerset since 2013 and will be held at The Taunton Conference Centre, Somerset College, Wellington Road, Taunton on Thursday, January 21, 2016 between 6.45pm and 9pm.

Local people are invited to attend and reserve a seat for the event, to hear more about policing in the area and ask questions of the PCC, the Area Commander and other senior police officers from the local neighbourhood beat team.

Ms Mountstevens said: “I am delighted to be back in Taunton for the next public forum and hope that people will take the time to attend and share their views.  The aim of these forums is to give the opportunity for local people, old or young, to come along ask questions and share their experiences of policing in their community.

“When hosting these bi-monthly forums across Somerset, local people have shared with me a variety of views including those on rural crime, anti-social behaviour, regional collaboration and road safety. I therefore look forward to the questions that Taunton residents have for myself and C/Supt Ian Wylie.”

Attendees will receive a presentation from PCC Sue Mountstevens before being given an overview of policing in the area by the Area Commander.  Following these presentations there will be a question and answer session.

C/Supt Ian Wylie said: “I am very much looking forward to attending the forum in Taunton with the PCC.

“These events give us the opportunity to not only hear from our local communities, but have important dialogue so we can directly address any concerns, give updates on local activity and answer any questions the public may have.

“I would encourage as many people to come as possible and help shape local policing in your area. I want to know what you think we do well and if there are any areas we need to improve on.”
