Business leaders from across the West had their first chance to meet Avon and Somerset’s Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens when she spoke about her plans to create a business crime forum.
She announced the initiative in her inauguration speech, and last night gave Business West members more details of how she plans, with their support, to address business crime and help offenders.
Ms Mountstevens said: “I will set up a business crime forum to work with businesses, both to develop initiatives to address business crime, but also to involve them in other areas of this agenda where businesses and their engagement can have a positive effect - such as the opportunity for offenders to find employment.”
Ms Mountstevens told the meeting that, as the independent Commissioner, she would protect residents and police from political interference. She pledged to reduce crime so people can be safe and feel safe in their community.
