'Crime Fighter Bob' being presented his Pride Award by PCC Sue Mountstevens

Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens, today presented ‘Crime Fighter Bob’ Eastaugh with a Pride Award for his commitment to his previous role as a Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator.

In the nomination submitted to the PCC, Bob was commended for his ‘encouragement of resident participation through open forums, to get ideas and thoughts from local people in order to better serve the community in which they live.’

Bob Eastaugh earned the nickname and is renowned in his community as ‘Crime Fighter Bob’, after selflessly donating his time to keeping the streets of Keynsham safe since January 2009.

Speaking after the visit, PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “What a treat to meet such an outstanding individual, who has for many years been a neighbourhood watch co-ordinator, ensuring Keynsham remains a robust and safe community.

“I’m delighted that Bob was nominated for a Pride Award, as he is the epitome of a silent star and deserves the recognition for his many years of service and support to the police and his local community.”

Bob helped launch the neighbourhood watch scheme in his area after a number of cars were set on fire in the town.  Over the years, he has also taken several groups of residents from the area to Police HQ to visit the Force Service Centre.

Talking about his award, Bob said: “It was a special day for me and my family to meet Sue and for her to hand the award over. I felt all the work I have done has been worth it and it was so special to be recognised for all the work I have done for the community over the years.”

PCC Sue Mountstevens presented the award to Bob, who was joined by members of his family, at the One Stop Shop, Keynsham Civic Centre.
