Residents in Taunton and the surrounding areas have two weeks to sign-up to a public forum with two of the top police bosses in Avon and Somerset on Thursday, January 21 at 6.45pm at Somerset College.
The forum is an opportunity for local people to share their views on policing in the area with Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens and Somerset’s Area Commander Chief Superintendent (C/Supt) Ian Wylie.
As the sixth meeting of its kind hosted in Somerset since 2013, the forum will be held at The Taunton Conference Centre, Somerset College, Wellington Road, Taunton on Thursday, January 21, 2016 between 6.45pm and 9pm.
PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “I’m delighted to be back in Taunton for the next forum and hope that people will take the time to attend. I’m aware from previous meetings in Somerset and the correspondence I receive in my mailbag local people have views on rural crime, anti-social behaviour and road safety.
“I’m intrigued to see what local people have to say on policing in the area on this occasion and I would encourage residents and people who live and work in the area to come along and share their experiences of policing in the community.”
The session will also include an overview of policing in Somerset by C/Supt Ian Wylie and people will get the chance to ask any questions.
C/Supt Wylie said: “These events give us the opportunity to not only hear from our local communities, but have important dialogue so we can directly address any concerns, give updates on local activity and answer any questions the public may have.
“I would encourage as many people to come as possible and help shape local policing in your area. I want to know what you think we do well and if there are any areas we need to improve on.”
If you have any questions you would like to ask you can email us in advance at email@example.com. We recommend that you do this if you have a question that might need some research i.e. regarding a specific issue in your area.
You can also tweet us your questions to @AandSPCC using #YPCCYV. Notes from the question and answer session will be published on the PCC’s website following the meeting.
If you would like to attend the forum you can reserve your seat either by visiting http://tauntonpccpublicforum.eventbrite.co.uk, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01275 816377.
